Tuxedo Park Junk Shop Antique Han Dynasty Style Horse Head

This is an antique Chinese grey terra cotta horse head modeled after examples from later Han dynasty 1st to 3rd centuries CE. It comes from the China Art Center in Carmel California, which was owned by the Chew family. The Chew family imported Chinese antiques and had businesses in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Carmel. They also owned the Dolores Lodge, and often hosted Chinese artists and scholars. 12″ x 16″ x 4″
