Certainly all of the creations by Elsa Peretti are beautiful. The one piece that exemplifies her purity of design is the water cup she designed for Tiffany & Co. The thin sterling silver walls and smooth sculptural thumbprints take this simple object to another level.
When my son was born, I was given some lovely baby items from Tiffany & Co. I kept one silver moon teething ring and brought the rest back to Tiffany & Co. on Fifth Avenue to exchange them for a pair of water cups. I had a date with a dear friend to go to the Cooper Hewitt Museum that evening, and the cups were perfect for a quick picnic in Central Park with deli sandwiches and a bottle of crémant.
This cup is a smaller version of the thumbprint cup that I have not seen offered. It measures 2.25″ by 2.25″ inches and has a 24kt gold vermeil on the interior.
